So I am generally a slow runner. Consistent, but slow. This morning I was running on a side road, and then joined a bigger road with 1 km to go. Shortly thereafter, a friend of mine passed me shouting “Hello!” as he sped past :). As I watched the gap grow, I decided to increase my pace to limit the rate at which the gap was growing. It wasn’t long before he disappeared from my horizon :(. And it got me thinking: will I ever run faster than my current pace? And what will it take to increase my pace? Anyhow, undeterred, I completed my session and proceeded to the gym. Several minutes later, a colleague of mine came in to the gym and commented on how fast I run. “Huh?” I said, rather surprised. She couldn’t have been talking to me, although I was the only one in the gym lol! She went on to say that she saw me join the bigger road just a few meters ahead of her [she was on the bigger road]. She tried to catch up with me but I was too fast. WHAT???

  1. Lesson;
    Someone is always better than us, and we are always better than someone…
    Accept and appreciate your, always..?

  2. Never run your race based on the pace of others. You run according to your strength and your pace. It will carry you through. This applies to life too. If God intended for us to be clones He would have made us that way. Push yourself but do it for you not because you are trying to match someone else.

  3. Lesson…there’s what we see of ourselves and what others see of us. As long as we live our lives daily doing the best we can, we’ll be surprised what a great perspective others have of our lives.
