So after 68 runs, 524 kms in the 169 days of 2016 so far, I am finally at only 7 sleeps to Lewa 2016.  It has been a really good training season, notwithstanding the challenges.  I have learnt that I can push my body to greatness, if I just put my mind and effort to it.  I have broken personal records, while on some days I have been so tired that keeping my eyes on the goal is what, literally, got me on the road.  I have learnt and tried out loads of new things, while at the same time consolidating other long known practices. My only drawback is that even though I have had such a great year this far, I will not be at my best due to the injury. I realized this morning while training that some strain still lingers, and it will take more time to heal. Like my physiotherapist told me this week, I just need to take it easy and give it time. I can run, so long as I am not running hard: and this for the purposes of completing the Lewa race.  When all is said and done, I am ready for Lewa.  I purpose to give it my best shot and then after that, rest and recuperate.  It makes me remember that in life, no matter how much preparation we make towards certain projects, exams, goals, etc; sometimes we still are not at our best, as we would like to be. And that is OK.  Life happens … we get setbacks, interruptions, detours, dead ends … but no matter what, we do not stop or quit. We revise our position, set new goals and move forward the best way we can. At the end of the day, what matters is that we give it our best shot, and leave the rest to God. He just may surprise us sometimes, and we end up doing even better than we ever imagined. So Lewa here I come. I am pretty excited about it too.
P.S. Last year, the army dudes in full combat gear in the photo above were my pace setters LOL.  I kept telling myself that if I just stayed a few meters ahead of them, I would be OK. And sure enough, I crossed the finish line just before them hehehehe. #SmallVictoriesCount ;).
